The pH scale measures how acidic or alkaline a substance is. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14. A pH higher than 7 is alkaline ( basic) and less than 7 is acidic and exact 7 is neutral. pH stands for potential hydrogen. It is defined as the measurement of electrical resistance between negative and positive ions in the body.Positive ions are acid forming and negative ions are alkaline (basic). The pH measurement looks at how these positive and negative ions push each other. What has this got to do with our body? In order to maintain a healthy disease free body our pH must be slightly alkaline which is close to 7.4. In order for blood to effectively act as a medium for oxygen and other vital nutrients, the pH must be in this range of 7.4, too acidic or too alkaline is harmful.Our body always re- balance to be within this range, but it depends mainly on the food we feed it and also the habits. Because our body creates acid, we have to neutralise it by eating proper diet and maintaining healthy habits.Diet is very important to maintain pH. If pH is not maintained we are more susceptible to diseases.

Different Ways Of Alkalizing The Body Naturally

  • Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily
  • To warm water squeeze in a whole lemon and a teaspoon of honey and drink first thing in the morning
  • Consume high potassium foods like Banana and Lemon
  • To a glass of water add 30 ml lemon juice and 5 grams (one teaspoon) baking soda  and drink
  • To a glass of water add one teaspoon (5 ml) of Apple Cider Vinegar and drink
  • Fill in a copper bottle with water and keep it overnight and drink it throughout the day
  • Fill a glass bottle with water and put in 1 inch of sliced ginger, 5 to 10 leaves of mint, half sliced cucumber and 1 sliced lemon. Drink this throughout the day. Refill the bottle whenever empty.
  • Mix lemon juice to salads
  • Reduce non vegetarian foods that makes body pH more acidic
