Boost Your Body’s Collagen Level the Ayurvedic Way

The inevitable process of aging starts right at birth, though we humans try everything in our control to limit the signs of aging from showing up. Despite our efforts, signs of aging do show up and are foremost visible on our skin. But aging is deeper than our skin and goes down to the level of bones, tendons, and overall protein structure of our body. What is this protein structure of our body, you ask? Its collagen. Now what is this collagen and how is it important to make us look younger?

Collagen – the scaffolding that holds up the human body

Collagen is the primary structural component of connective tissue in our body. Found in skin, muscles, joints, tendrils, etc., collagen composes one-third of the protein component of the human body and forms 75% of our skin’s support structure. It is responsible for the structural firmness, and texture of our body tissues, and the elasticity and suppleness of our skin. Collagen can be endogenous and exogenous wherein the former is naturally synthesized by our body while the latter is synthetic and is ingested as a supplement.

What if the collagen level drops in our body?

Our body naturally produces collagen by breaking down the protein we eat. However, with age, our body loses its ability to produce sufficient collagen. The most visible sign of depleted collagen levels is wrinkles and sagging skin. The more painful effects of deteriorating collagen in our bodies are osteoarthritis, stiff tendons, and ligaments, weak muscles, joint pain, gastrointestinal ailments, etc. Not only aging but poor lifestyle and improper diet are also responsible for the degradation of collagen levels in our body.

How to Boost Collagen Levels in our body?

A healthy lifestyle and a diet rich in protein, fresh vegetables, and fruits can promote collagen production in our body. Additionally, external supplements are a good way to boost collagen levels. In Ayurveda – the traditional Indian medical science, we find information about several natural ingredients that can slow the effects of aging.

To further our eternal quest to look and feel forever young, we resort to studying fruits and herbs like Amalaki, Ashwagandha, Brahmi, etc., mentioned in Ayurvedic literature Charak Samhita and Sushrut Samhita.

Indian Gooseberry or Amalaki (Emblica Officinalis), is a rich source of Vitamin C. Recent studies reveal its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties, among a long list of other uses.

Studies show that the herb Water Hyssop or Brahmi (Bacopa Monnieri) can relieve stress and anxiety. Further, lab tests indicate that the herb may reduce inflammation and blood pressure in humans, and has a neuroprotective effect on Alzheimer’s patients.

Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera) or Indian Ginseng is considered a rejuvenator in Ayurveda owing to its adaptogenic and anti-stress properties. The herb improves the body’s resilience to stress and helps protect from free radicals that cause cellular damage.

Indian Hog Plum or Haritaki (Terminalia Chebula) is known as King of Medicines in Ayurveda for its therapeutic benefits. The dried fruit is used mostly for its antioxidant and rejuvenating properties apart from many other medicinal usages.

Incorporating all these powerhouses of medicinal benefits individually in our daily lives is a tedious task. To resolve this issue, Miracle Drinks has formulated a unique Ayurvedic drink that combines all the afore-listed herbs and fruits apart from other natural ingredients that can support us in our anti-aging efforts. Having the Anti-Aging Support Tonic once a day will help you detox, reduce cholesterol levels, boost energy, and above all keep you hale and hearty. To top it, the ingredients of the tonic are recognized as food supplements under the FSS ACT of 2006 by the FSSAI.
