Banana is a tropical plant grown abundantly in India. All parts of the plant are used in cooking. Fruit, Leaves, Stem, Blossom (heart) are all used to make variety of dishes like soup, salad, juice, vegetable and curries.

Banana stem is loaded with excess of Potassium and Vitamin B6. Taste of Banana stem is bland with a slight bitter after taste. Banana stem decolorizes fast, dressed chopped stem is soaked in either buttermilk or water with a pinch of turmeric powder or lemon juice.

    • Banana Stem chopped 1 cup
    • Curds 1/4th cup
    • Salt to taste
    • Roasted Cumin Powder 1/4th Teaspoon

    • TAKE ALL THE INGREDIENTS INTO A MIXER GRINDER JAR AND GRIND

      NOTE:- DON’T STRAIN, DRINK WITH OR WITHOUT ICE

BANANA STEM JUICE (with Sugar/ jaggery)

INGREDIENTS USED
    • Banana Stem chopped 1 cup
    • Curds 1/4th cup
    • Jaggary / sugar 1 tablespoon
    • Water
    • TAKE ALL THE INGREDIENTS INTO A MIXER GRINDER JAR AND GRIND

      NOTE:- DON’T STRAIN, DRINK WITH OR WITHOUT ICE

BANANA STEM STIR FRIED VEGETABLE/ PORIAL/ PALYA

    • 2 cups Banana stem (finely chopped cubes or any shape of choice)
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    • Salt to taste
    • Water 2 tablespoon
    • Pressure cook for one whistle
For tempering
    • 2 tbsp oil
    • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
    • 1/2 tsp Chana dal
    • 1 red chili
    • 1 green chili chopped fine
    • 2 sprigs curry leaves
    • 1/4th teaspoon asafetida
    • Onion ½ chopped
    • Garnishing
    • ½ cup Coconut gratings

IN A PAN HEAT OIL AND ADD THE TEMPERING INGREDIENTS ONE BY ONE
COOK TILL ONION TURNS PINK
PUT IN THE COOKED BANANA STEM
STIR TILL DRY
ADD COCONUT GRATINGS AND CHOPPED FINE CORIANDER LEAVES

BANANA STEM RAITA

    • 1 cup Banana Stem, cut into small dices
    • 2 cups Curd whisked
    • 1 or 2 Green Chilies
For Tempering
    • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
    • 1 teaspoon split black gram
    • 1 sprig Curry leaves chopped finely
    • Salt to taste
    • 1/2 teaspoon cooking oil

Method of preparation
Mix all the ingredients Banana Stem, Curds and finely chopped green chilies.
Give tempering

BANANA STEM GREEN JUICE

    • BANANA STEM 1 CUP CHOPPED
    • BUTTERMILK 1/4TH CUP
    • MINT LEAVES FEW
    • CURRY LEAVES FEW
    • CORIANDER LEAVES
    • GINGER SMALL PIECE
    • LEMON JUICE ½ TEASPOON
    • SALT TO TASTE

TAKE ALL THE INGREDIENTS INTO A MIXER GRINDER JAR AND GRIND
